Hawaii Knitting & Fiber Cruise (March 2011) ~ Knitting Cruises Description

Join knitting, crocheting and beading artist Myra Wood and Kristine Brooks, color and fiber arts enthusiast, on a colorful Hawaiian adventure like none other. Hawaii is one of the most scenic cruising areas in the world and Myra Wood and Kristine Brooks have put together an amazing class program to add color to your knitting adventures and jumpstart your creativity. This cruise itinerary offers the ultimate in onboard class time, enjoying the luxury of shipboard living and exploring some of the most beautiful islands in the world.

Hawaii is paradise and there is no better way to get over your winter blues than on a relaxing cruise around these gorgeous islands. Dye locally produced yarn at the Hawaiian Homegrown Wool Company, learn about the cultivation of vanilla from the Vanilla Orchid at the only farm in the United states producing it. On this cruise you will meet local fiber artists, shop for beautiful yarn, learn new skills and get to know some new friends.

Many people think of Hawaii when they watch the musical "South Pacific" which was filmed in 1949 on the north shore of Kauai and Mount Makana. Mount Makana is still referred to as Bali Hai today and the famous Tunnel Beach on Hanalei Bay is often referred to as "Nurses' Beach" from the scene where Bloody Mary sings of Bali Hai. Kauai is also famous for its Na Pali Coast which offers absolutely stunning views of lush valleys, waterfalls, ancient Hawaiin ruins and the Pacific Ocean via its 11- mile trail.

Maui, on the other hand, epitomizes everything that attracts visitors to Hawaii from endless activities to beautiful forests, mountains, volcanos and magnificent sandy beaches. With the annual migration of humpback whales occurring during this cruise, make sure to plan on spending time whale watching.

Everyone will enjoy the luxury of the many glorious "at sea" days sailing to and from the islands: scuba diving or snorkel in pristine waters, soaring above waterfalls and through canyons, or just relaxing in a teak deck chair while working on that new project watching the pretty scenery go by.
