Transatlantic Knitting Cruise (Aug 2018) ~ Knitting Cruises Description

20-Day Viking Passage Knitting Cruise w/ Hazel Tindall

This popular knitting cruise on board Holland America Line's ms Zuiderdam sails from Copenhagen to New York. While on board, participants will enjoy learning new knitting skills from a professional knitting instructor and the instant community of being with other knitters. While in port, experience local inspiration through privately arranged visits with local designers, knitters and yarn producers wherever possible. This is the perfect cruise for knitters and cruising enthusiasts alike. The North Atlantic is known for its rugged beauty and cool summertime temperatures. Take this voyage and you'll keep cool while stimulating your creativity in the company of other knitters.

Hazel Tindall will be teaching a range of knitting techniques on board. Hazel has mastered the fine art of Fair Isle knitting and is the world's fastest knitter. Hazel designs unique Shetland and Fair Isle knitting patterns and is very involved in the festivals and organizations in Shetland. Growing up in Shetland, Hazel was surrounded by knitters who needed to knit quickly and to a high standard in order to gain an income. Hazel, like so many from this region, has been knitting for longer than she's been reading and writing, and has no memory of learning to knit. Hazel has completed thousands of pieces of knitting and loves knitting Fair Isle. With so many colors and patterns, Hazel feels this technique enables the knitter to never run out of ideas.

This cruise combines nicely with our 10-day Baltic knitting cruise with Melanie Berg. Combine this 20-day Viking Passage for a 30-day knitting cruise extravaganza from Copenhagen to New York!
