Northern Isles Knitting Cruise (Aug 2022) ~ Knitting Cruises Description

Northern Isles Knitting Cruise w/ JC Briar
Aug 28 -Sep 11, 2022

Set sail from Amsterdam on this late summer cruise visiting Norway, Iceland, and Scotland. This cruise includes seeing Norwegian Fjords and the most scenic cruising areas around Iceland, Shetland, and the Scottish Highlands. Join like-minded travelers onboard Holland America's beautiful ms Rotterdam. Participants will have the opportunity to learn new knitting skills in workshops taught by JC Briar while the ship is at sea and explore fabulous ports along the way. Participants may explore on their own or with the group on organized tours that focus on yarn shopping, fiber production, and meeting local knitters along the way.

This Northern Isles Itinerary is a perennial favorite because it includes such popular ports as Bergen, Molde, Akureyri, Isafjordur, Reykjavik, Lerwick, Invergordon, and Edinburgh. Knitting is a way of life in this part of the world and is where many knitting traditions began.

We invite you to treat yourself on a journey where you'll make new friends, enjoy being pampered by Holland America Line's attentive staff, and visit some of the most beautiful ports in the world.

JC Briar is a passionate knitter, instructor, and world-traveler. She is a confessed "technique freak" and "skill junkie," JC dabbles in all kinds of knitting but has a particular fondness for textured knitting and novel construction techniques. If it involves lace, cables, or seamless construction, it's sure to catch her eye.

Classes will include "Your First Stranded Colorwork," "Lace Basics," "Loving Your Lace Edgings," "Selbuvotter for Traditional Selbu Mittens," "Lace that Grows," "Patterned Brioche," "Cast-on Cornucopia," and "Next Steps in Brioche."

We invite you to pack up your needles, grab your jackets, mittens, and scarves and join us on this knitting cruise where you'll keep cool while stimulating your creativity.
