Norwegian Fjords (May 2011) ~ Knitting Cruises Description

Join Craft Cruises and Lily Chin on our Norwegian Fjords knitting & crocheting cruise. The majestic beauty of the Norwegian Fjords is hard to capture in words. This is the land of the midnight sun where the locals live for summer and worship long days full of sunshine. The days will be long and each will bring wonderful and special experiences. On this cruise you'll visit Bergen, Alesund, Flam and Stavanger.

Visit Bergen, with its lovely cobbled streets, quaint houses and stunning natural beauty. Be inspired by gorgeous Norwegian sweaters and stunning yarns at Dale of Norway, Husfliden Bergen, one of Norway's many Handcraft Society outlets and the award winning Oleana knitwear designs. Explore Alesund, which is dramatically built on five islands, is known for its architecture in Art Nouveau style, surrounding Fjords, pristine waters and the high peaks of the Sunmore Alps. Enjoy beautiful Flam, which is surrounded by steep mountainsides, spectacular waterfalls and deep valleys in the heart of Sognefjord. And be in awe in Stavanger, for the finest wooden structures in Northern Europe as well as being at the beginning of the West Norwegian Fjords UNESCO World Heritage site. The fjords in this area are among the world's longest and deepest and are the most scenically outstanding anywhere. This exceptional natural beauty comes from steep crystalline rock walls that rise up to 1400 m from the sea and extend 500m below sea level.

This is Perhaps one of the most beautiful and dramatically scenic cruises you will ever take. The Norwegian Fjords region offers the most stunningly amazing coastal cruising in the world. From the time you board the ship in Rotterdam until you disembark you will thoroughly enjoy these ports which are all rich in history and scenery. Throughout the cruise you will be in awe as your ship passes this beautiful scenery which is uniquely Norwegian.

Lily Chin is such an experienced instructor there isn't much she cannot teach. From novice to expert you will learn new skills and find inspiration. Lily has an exciting class program designed to fit this itinerary and will lead the group on special fiber related excursions in ports along the way. Lily will be teaching two of her newest classes! Be the first to take Phony Cables, which gives you the look of cables without having to rearrange stitches and Join as You Go Knitting so you can avoid joining for edgings and other seams. In addition, with such a small group size, Lily will offer an open clinic designed to meet knitters and crocheters where they're skills are at so participants can learn techniques to make their knitting and crocheting more enjoyable.
