Ship Location

Nawiliwili Harbor, on the southeast side of the island, is where the cruise ship will dock. There are several companies that offer free shuttle service from the pier to several destinations.

Getting Around

The best way to explore Kauai is by taking your own rental car, because there is so much to see but very spread out among the island. The Kauai Bus provides service between Kekaha and Hanalei. Taxis are also available. 

Attractions

Visitors come to Kauai purely for the picturesque beauty of the natural surroundings. Waimea Canyon is one of the most majestic parts of the island, with steep colorful cliffs scattered with beautiful waterfalls. Mark Twain once dubbed it the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." The area of Poipu is home to stunning white-sand beaches, swaying palm trees, and a lovely horizon. Great strolls among beautiful Hawaiian flora include the McBryde Gardens and Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens. The active visitor to Kauai is never bored, with plenty of aquatic activities (such as swimming, surfing, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, and other water sports) and things to do on shore, like hiking the wonderful trails in the vast territory of Kauai, golfing on lush green courses, whale-watching, and zip-lining through the abundantly vibrant rain forests. And, of course, lounging on one of the 43 white-sand beaches of the island.

There is not much to do in hopes of great shopping, but there are several local farmer's markets throughout the island with freshly grown produce and locally made handicrafts, perfect for gifts.
