All About Triangle Shawls

Instructor: Tonia Lyons       Class Capacity: 25
Class Level: Beginner

Description ~ All About Triangle Shawls

Triangle shawls may look magical, but their secret is surprisingly simple: shaping. In this hands-on class, you'll explore the different ways triangle shawls are created by placing increases and decreases in specific locations—and how those choices affect the final shape, size, and drape of the shawl. We'll look at several common triangle shawl constructions and break down how each one works, so you can recognize them in patterns and understand why they behave the way they do. During class, you'll knit one or two small shawl swatches to practice these concepts and see the shaping take place right on your needles. You'll also learn practical techniques that make a big difference in shawl knitting, including how to work garter and i-cord tabs, choose and modify edge stitches, and add stitch patterns without disrupting the overall shape. By the end of the class, you'll have a clearer understanding of triangle shawl construction and the confidence to customize shawl patterns—or design your own—with intention.
