In this class students will learn the basics of Bohus Stickning tradition. Bohus Stickning is a renowned Swedish knitting tradition that originated in the Bohuslän region of Sweden. This knitting style is famous for its intricate patterns, luxurious materials, and exquisite craftsmanship.
Bohus Stickning was established as a way to provide income for women in the economically depressed region. Bohus knitting is known for its intricate colorwork, often using a combination of knit and purl stitches to create a textured fabric. The designs frequently incorporate a wide range of colors and shades, creating a sophisticated and complex look. The patterns are characterized by their elegant and artistic motifs. The original Bohus Stickning garments were made using high-quality wool and angora yarns, contributing to their softness and luxurious feel. The use of fine yarns allowed for detailed and delicate patterns.
