Description ~ Mosaic Colorwork
The easygoing cousin of stranded colorwork, slip-stitch knitting is a fun and easy technique that brings more color into your work without the stranding or trapping of floats. We'll knit up the Bow Tie Pasta Fingerless Mitts pattern, discuss the different types of colorwork, how to read charts, mattress stitching, basic color theory, and finishing techniques.
Materials Needed ~ Mosaic Colorwork
- 2 Highly contrasting shades of DK weight yarn (yarn used is Emma's Yarn Simply Spectacular DK)
- Size US 3 (3.25) 16" circular knitting needles.
- Size US 5 (3.75mm) 16" circular knitting needles.
- Stitch Markers.
- Sticky Notes.
- Tapestry Needle.
- Wonder Clips or small black office binder clips.
- Copy of Bow Tie Fingerless Mitts Pattern included in class handout.
Homework ~ Mosaic Colorwork
- With MC and US 3 (3.25) needles, Longtail CO 50 sts. Do not join into rnd - mitts are worked flat back and forth in rows.
- Knit 6 rows.
