Instructor: Chris Bylsma       Class Capacity: 25
Class Level: Intermediate

Description ~ Steeks to the Rescue

Steeks are not just for traditional knitting, and they are not scary, but empowering Learn three different non-machine ways to anchor and cut your knitting (yes!) to change a pullover to a cardigan, shape a neckline, re-size a garment, shape armholes and put you in charge. Learn some very non-traditional and eye-opening ways to include steeks in your knitting.

Materials Needed ~ Steeks to the Rescue

Various size crochet hooks appropriate for the swatches, scissors, calculator, tape measure, tapestry needle, yarn and needles used for the swatches, contrast color yarn, circular needle two sizes smaller than swatch needles.

Homework ~ Steeks to the Rescue

Work 3 stockinette swatches of 5" x 5" in a smooth, light colored worsted weight yarn. On the first swatch keep 4 sts in the middle in twisted knit (knit through the back on the right side, purl through the back on the wrong side). Put the last swatch on a stitch holder rather than binding off.
