Stranded Knitting Foundations

Instructor: Tonia Lyons       Class Capacity: 25
Class Level: Beginner

Description ~ Stranded Knitting Foundations

Stranded knitting creates some of the most eye-catching fabric in the knitting world—but before you dive into a project, it pays to understand how colorwork really works. In this relaxed, skill-building session, we'll focus on the foundations that make stranded knitting feel doable instead of daunting. You'll start by knitting a swatch while learning how to read a stranded knitting chart and understand how charts translate to stitches. We'll explore the different types of colorwork knitting, practice both rotating and parallel floats, and look at how yarn choice, gauge, and fabric all work together to create beautiful, wearable results. We'll also cover practical finishing skills, including how to manage and weave in ends neatly—because the back of your work matters, too. This session is perfect for knitters who want to build confidence, ask questions, and practice essential skills in a low-pressure environment before jumping into a full project.
